After a particularly brutal Vassal game, I had a player recommend adding some bikes. The best way to do this you ask? Add a captain on bike and a troop squad of 5 biker models. In my case, I am adding the captain with a storm shield +lightning claw and a biker squad of 4 bikers (2 melta, 1 powerfist, 2 bolters) and one melta attack bike. My army has thus, taken on a far more resilient tone. I have gotten rid of my scouts and assault marines for the time being to try out fewer, but tougher-to-kill models. The army looks a bit different as well. I wanted to make sure the ironclads were getting across the table and to do this while adding a troop choice bike squad, I had to shuffle around equipment and points.
HQ
MotF- bolt pistol/power weapon, servo harness
Captain-bike, storm shield/lightning claw, melta bombs
Elite
Dreadnought- 2x TL Autocannon

Troop
Tac Squad- missile launcher, flamer, comi-melta/melta bombs, rhino

Biker squad- 2x bolters, 2x melta, powerfist, melta attack bike
Fast
Landspeeder Tornado- multi-melta, heavy flamer

Heavy
Ironclad Dreadnought- dccw/storm bolter, seismic hammer/melta, ironclad assault launchers, drop pod

So this list has more melta, faster advance, and overall a plethora of targets to take out. I have also increased my amount of fire via my dreads by switching them to TL autocannons. I think this will help out in the range game. S7 AP4 autocannons should handle light armor well and then I can focus on my fast elements taking out heavy armor. Should be fun. I hope to try it out in a game this week.
