Gone to Ground Giveaway: The Prize

I have finally gotten my Lone Wolf finished.  I have named him Skeld.  I think the name is cool.  I also think one of the warriors in the movie The Thirteen Warrior was named Skeld.  Granted my Skeld looks nothing like the one from the movie, but nonetheless, the name sticks until he makes his way to a new owner. So, here we are:

The idea was to make him look really beat up and dirty as if he has been pursuing a glorious death nonstop for as long as possible.  It makes a really gritty looking model.
Now, we have to get to the business of giving this guy away!

So far, I have stated that participants must be a follower of this blog.  I will select from them, so follow this blog!

My second is that you leave a comment on this blog stating your motivation for participating in 40k.  Are you a competitive gamer?  Are you a hobbyist?  A commission painter?  Why does 40k appeal to you?

That's it!  I will randomly select a person from the list of comments who also happens to be a follower of this blog, so don't forget to follow Gone to Ground.

I will make my selection and announcement on Monday, May 30th, Memorial Day here in the US, at 12 noon central standard time.  So, good luck!

First up, Skeld looks fantastic, really great job.

I am already a follower, and enjoy 40k for many reasons, I love the converting, painting, playing and all the fun that goes with it. I suppose that makes me a hobbyist then!

Really hope I win this awesome model :)

Been playing 40K for about two years now. Loved the fluff of the Space Wolves and has finally gotten about 2000 pts worth. Have played in one tourney and I don't think it's for me. Love playing with friends and participating in the community. Active poster on Bolter and Chainsword.
I would love to have a great model like Skeld to add to my Great Company.

I originally started on WFB due to my love of Wood Elves, but when I finally saw the wolves I converted quickly with reckless abandon. 4k points later I'm still in love with 40k due to the great rules and the awesome fluff! If only we could move forward into 41k :P

I got dragged into 40K basically kicking and screaming about a dozen years ago. Our group had been die-hard Battletech players, sneering derisively at the 40K players and their funny looking tanks. Then first one, then another, and another of our group were corrupted by the curse of 40K. Finally I saw the new (at the time) Space Wolf codex and I too was infected beyond all hope of redemption. Now I have several thousand points of Wolves, a somewhat smaller Tyranid army, and several squads of Sisters and Grey Knights I bought as "allies" but actually got them because they looked so incredible. I love converting and painting, but my actual combat record is horrible but I don't care that much, its still fun.

40K? I guess I truely started playing to fit in. My friends were playing, it seemed like fun and so I started collecting also. Looking back now I don't see any of those friends gaming any more.

Now, I can't seem to get away from the game, no matter how far I travel or what I do, I come back to play Wolves.

I like playing but the modeling and painting is where its at for me. I love making characters based on things. I just made a Rune Priest Tim the Enchanter(monty python and the search for the holy grail) and a Wolf Guard Stoik the Vast(how to train your dragon). That and I'm apparently addicted to bitz...

That is a fantastic model. Nicely done!

I got into 40k for the models and the Space Wolves lore. Converting, modeling, and painting are major interests for me, and when I saw the studio models in the SW codex I had an instant inspiration for a color scheme and knew I wanted to paint them. I'm also a pretty avid gamer, so I definitely enjoy the gameplay aspect of the hobby.

40K, Primarily it was a childhood thing. Something me and all of my friends did together.
After that it just became a passion ongoing. I've only recently come back to the hobby and I'm totally enjoying planning out my new army list, and all of the conversions I have planned.

Custom models and paint jobs is what I enjoy the most, I thoroughly enjoy the game play, but the design and modelling is what I enjoy the most.

I got into 40k about two years ago. I chose Eldar as my army and initially I was just in it to play it as a game and didn't have much interest in pursuing it beyond that. Over the past 6 months I've really gotten into the painting aspects and narrative play (even if the narration is only in my head). I take great pride in always fielding a fully painted army now. I still hit up tournaments every now and again, but I think I'm just a hobbyist at heart now.
I enjoy 40k the most because I can get together with friends, drink a few beers, and have a good time playing a fun game.

This may sounds kinda sad, but the think I like most about 40k is putting the minis together. Painting is ok, but I do get burned out on it rather quickly. Playing is kinda, "meh". But give me some sprue and I'm a happy camper.

Good call on blogger not catching my comment! I got into 40k after a year of playing fantasy, I sat down to watch a 40k game and after seeing a game of wolves vs grey knights I switched. I loved the look, the feel, and the 5th edition rules. Win our lose I've loved every game!

Don't know what happened. I had set this to follow and made a post before but it's gone now. Also it would apper that the thread on B&C is gone, or at least I can't find it. Oh well....

As I was saying... Great model! I've been playing 40K for about two years now. I love the fluff of the Space Wolves Codex and have finally gotten my collection to about 200pts worth. Love playing the game and painting and collecting models. Would love to be able to add Skeld to my Great Company.

I'm a regular poster on Bolter & Chainsword.

Picked up "Assault on Black Reach" a few weeks ago for me and my 13 year old son to play. Will be his 1st table top game. He picked the Orcs and I get the Space Marines.

He is looking really awesome! I have been playing 40k for the better part of two years. I love the fluff, the models and theres nothing better than a game at 3 am with no sleep and nothing but red bull and adrenaline keeping you going. WAAAGH!

Very nice looking model.

I got into the hobby back in 1998 when an outrider gave me a squad of beserkers in a rhino in a huge mega-battle of hunt for the fallen. I love going to tournaments and meeting new people. I also love painting and modeling. Lately i have been listening to podcasts and I also found I like to write. My blog is going good and gives me an outlet to take picture, express my thoughts, and stay motivated to paint up the next project.

Cool.

I got into the hobby in 2006 from Korea while teaching English there. I played DOW, and that got me hooked into the universe enough to start collecting. Later when I got back to the states, I found a local GW and began painting up Blood Angels. Since then, I've had like over 6 different armies, and currently I play Blood Angels, Imperial Guard Steel Legion, Dark Eldar, and Grey Knights. I like painting and modelling, but when I play, I tend to play competitively. It all depends on the opponent though. Casual players I play casually of course.
