Where has all of the metal gone?

In all the hulabaloo surrounding Finecast, I am left with a question.  Where are all of the metal models going? Is GW going to package them up in boxes and hold them in a warehouse?  Are they going to sell them as "collector's" models?  If I were GW, I would give people a last chance to grab that model they wanted in metal before it goes.  Reduce the price a bit and give it one final push.  I personally think it would go a long way in trying to build some solidarity with its disenfranchised customer base. What do you think?  Have you wondered this or am I the only person?

Lowering prices? WHAT?
Prices go up! Up! UP!
To say otherwise is heresy.

Rumor I heard is that it is getting shipped back to be melted down to use in models (like specialist games) yet to transition to resin. Since the models are essentially the same they cannot clearance them out. It would make the price increase look even worse and would drive down demand for the new ones. They had essentially stopped shipping them out to stores a while ago so anything that sells is probably already gone.

I know, I know. Lowered prices, even on identical items, sounds like a stretch but hey if they are leaving the shelves, they might as well make a bit of money on them.
